does your friend need expanability or just generic of the crop.. the CUSL2-M may be a good choice. Get 64mb crucial memory or 128 for like 65 bucks... and the rest should be good...

The system itself is godawful, but if the person you are building it for will never notice than go for it.

What do you mean Bignate603, about graphics? Doesn't the 815e already have onboard graphics and sound?!?

Anyways, I agree with forcesho on memory, go for 128. I'm building a similar system right now (sorta, a 700 celery on a Transcend TS-ASL3) for my "sistas".

Integrated graphics are what make a system cheap.
Integrated video and audio can shave over a $100 off total system cost, (and they are not that bad)
Heck I can even get a little UT in at work sometimes (I mean it's not great, but it's playable).

I'm going to have to agree with a few of the others, more ram, it's so cheap now that the extra 30 dollars would be well worth it.

Since you are trying to make this a VALUE system ... see about getting some used parts ... you could probably get some used pc100 ram from people who are upgrading to pc133 for less then the cost of new pc133 stuff. you could also just buy the cheapest 56k modem you can find. maybe cut a bit of cost by getting a cheaper cdrom drive ... Celeron 700 is about 10 bucks more expensive then the 600, or if you are gonna overclock it ... go with a 566 .. chances are very good you will get it to 100mhz FSB.

also ... have you thought about BX ... i know its old and outdated .... but you could probably pick up a Decent used Bx board for around 50 bucks or so ... and then toss in a $10 slocket ... $15 sound card drop another 60 bucks or so in a vid card S32000 32mb card is WAY better then any integrated vid card (pricewatch.com has it listed for $54 + 12 shipping ... or TNT2 16mb card for a few bucks less ...

or get a Geforce 2 MX for under 100 bucks ...

it may cost the same amount as the i815 board ... but if yout friend interested in playing some games here and there ... he'll really appreicate it ...
