What DVD burner did I get?

I bought a DVD burner from newegg recently. It's a BenQ, but I can't seem to figure out what model they sent me, because the model number is different from the website. It doesn't match any reviews either. The model number I got is a DW1620-201. I can find model numbers with DW1620, and DW1620PRO, but can't find mine. Does anyone else have this model number? And what type of burner is it?

The difference between the 1620 and the 1620Pro is the DL burning speed of 2.4 and 4x respectively. Use Nero if you have to find the speeds suppoorted by your drive and you should know. Did you buy retail or OEM?

I got this as a gift actually, my friend had it sent to my house. So I can't tell you which one he bought. I'd ask him, but he's out of town for the week.

I believe it is OEM. The package came with nothing other than the DVD burner and some nero software. I installed it and my computer recognizes it as a "generic DVD burner," which bothers me since I feel I'm losing some features. I've searched for some drivers but found none. Can anyone help me here as well?

If you're 100% sure you have the OEM version of BenQ's DW1620, then flash it w/ the official BenQ DW1620's firmware. Or you can go to cdfreak forums's BenQ section and ask some questions.

What leads me to believe that it's OEM, other than not coming with drivers or DVD player software, is that it doesn't have the BENQ logo on the CD tray. What are the benefits of flashing it? And what if it wasn't OEM and I flashed it?
