Alright a buddy is trading me a Ti4400 for his 9700Pro(don't ask) and all I have ever worked with are Nvidia based cards so I do not know whats the latest issues or mishaps in the Radeon world.

I run W2k with SP3 installed

I mainly play Counter Strike

What drivers should I download? Links please.

Just used driver cleaner and am now going to shut down comp and take my Ti4400 out and go trade. Will be back soon to install the 9700. Any tips ideas or concerns would be welcome.

Thanks for helping me out.

I upgraded from the GF2MX integrated on my nForce1 MB to a Radeon 9100. All I did was:

1) Download the latest ATi drivers, the Catalyst 3.5. I had to get the hotfix ones, but you can get the regular ones, and don't forget the control panel. There may be another hotfix set for a separate OpenGL issue, though, and you may want it; if it's really large (about 20MB's), then it probably includes the control panel, so you don't have to download it separately.

2) Ctrl Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Uninstall nVidia display driver.

3) Shut down, remove power, install card.

4) Reboot, hit Cancel to Windows New Hardware, then install drivers by double-clicking the downloaded ones. My hotfix driver package had the ATi control panel integrated, so you may have an extra reboot if you install them separately.

I was pleasantly surprised that everything went so smoothly. I'm enjoying the far better 2D and far faster 3D, an experience you'll probably share shortly.

Well I just got the card. It came with the Vantec ICEBERG blue LED fan on it along with ramsinks that were put on with AS3 epoxy. Just installed the 3.5 and control panel. used the rage3dtweak and its overclocked at 366/330. Not sure how high to push it , no artifacts as of now and I am getting 16,500 on 3dmark2001 instead of 13,000 with the old Ti4400. Good free upgrade. Thanks my man Abyss.
