what drive is better and why?? (ibm 60GXP or 75GXP series) besides the size difference

Neil,

I believe there is no difference in the two drives (other than more storage space.)

As long as you are talking about a particular series of IBM drives (i.e. the deskstar GXP series) you'll find similar specs across the board.

60GXP is a newer series of drives. The 60GXP has 20 Gig/platter. The 75GXP has 15 Gig/platter. This is why the 75GXPs come in 15/30/45/60/75 gig versions. The 60GXP will be in 20/40/60/80/ Gig versions.

The 60GXP will come in 20/40/60 gig sizes. Only 3 platters per drive. Notice the 60GXP.

Same with the 75GXP series, 75gig was the largest of the series.

Watch storagereview.com for the review. I don't think the 60's have hit retail stores yet.
