What DPI settings for FPS games do you use?

Hey Guys,

More specifically, I have a razer mouse and use razer synapse 2.0 software. There are a few settings I have no clue about.

1) DPI settings ----> I use 1800 DPI

2) Acceleration settings ---> set to 5

3) Polling rate settings ----> set to 1000


I play an FPS game called Heroes and Generals and always wondered if I have the right settings for this game. I use the sniper rifle a lot and we all know mouse settings are important concerning that.


For FPS games, what mouse settings do you guys prefer for your game?

I have a Razer Imperator which I can switch DPI on the fly. And I am changing it all the time in game. So in an FPS I will have it set higher so I can be very twitchy, but then if I snipe I will drop it down for better control.

I do not have my polling rate set to 1000 though, as it can have some strange side effects. So I have it set down from that.

I tend to run at 1600-1800 DPI. I use the default Windows mouse speed which can have drastic differences if changed.

I will switch the polling rate to 500 then.

What the hell does acceleration setting do anyway?

Maybe I should set it to zero because I am just guessing here.

Acceleration will predict where your mouse will aim, it's horrible for games that rely on raw aim skill like Counter Strike.

The faster you move the cursor yourself, the more the acceleration rate is increased.

So if you move the cursor very slow, it travels very slow. But if you then move the mouse faster, it travels at a faster rate than you are moving your hand.

What its basically doing behind the scenes is dynamically changing the dpi settings depending on input speed.

I have no clue what to set it at. Will have to experiment with it.

The button on my mouse switches from 1600-2400 DPI. I however pretty much always use 1600.

Counter Strike is a hit scan game (Just like call of duty), it doesn't require high degrees of aiming skill.

But for games like Quake 3 (Except the MG, it is hit scan, others are not) or Battlefield (on PC), raw aiming skill is a big deal.

I use 800 on my logitech because it's the only setting that doesn't use any acceleration and funky movement.
