mine is a quote from a Star Trek: The Next Generation Episode called The Drumhead. In it, Captain Picard defends Data from being declared "property" instead of a free being. He quotes a judge who made a famous ruling about free speech, and what happens when censorship beings to take hold. I used to belong to a free speech on the net group, and used that as a sig for their mailing list... it just... stuck.. and in this day and age, i think it's quite appropriate.
