Maybe this is just ghetto, but I voted other because my laptop sits on a desk, but I folded and taped up two pieces of paper a whole bunch and made little leg pads so the back sits a little higher off the desk. I don't care about it for typing, but it does keep it enough cooler that the fan is barely audible when running F@H, instead of the low steady whooosh that I had before.
Main Pc and server sit on the floor under my desk in my master bedroom.
My secondary windows PC sits on the desk in my spare bedroom.
My MythTV PC is inside my stereo cabinet in my Living room.
Any other boxes I have aren't running at the momment, but they are on the floor as well.
Originally I had it sitting inside a space for it in my desk setup, but my case has a side intake fan and there was only like 1/2" clearance on the sides for it. So I took it out and just put it on the carpet under my desk and my temperatures dropped a couple degrees.
Plus it was only sitting like 1/2" off the ground on a piece of wood which did nothing to stop dust and whatnot anyway, so there was no reason (aside from space, it's kind of close to my legs now) to not just move it out.
Server is on a carpeted floor.
iBook is on top of a printer/scanner all-in-one that doesn't work at the moment.
Powerbook is on another carpeted floor, but it's turned off and only there because I needed to use it there.
Thinkpad and Averatec notebooks are on my desk.
Dual p3 and Sun Ultra10 are on the carpeted floor, but aren't being used.
The Ultra1e is up against a wall looking pretty.
The Sparcstation 10 and sparcserver 20 are sitting at my mom's house staying out of my way.
The zaurus is generally in my pocket or on an end table next to the couch.
The Pocket PC is MIA at the moment... I'm sure it's around the desk somewhere...
I need to rearrange my desk so I can fit more on it, and get/build some kind of rack for the rest of it.
