I know a lot of you are probably on laptops, but I'm curious what peoples' computer desk or their laptops look like.

If you're willing to share, that is.

Here's mine, feel free to mock:

And yes I'm a big nerd who has action figures up there. Master Chief, Gordon Freeman, Starscream, Protoss, Big Daddy from Bioshock etc.

40 year old virgin?

My setup. Quad-core i7, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB Western Digital HDD, Samsung 27" LED, Sapphire AMD Radeon HD 6850 w/1GB video memory (I like Sapphire cards because they are stable and quiet), Lian-Li PC-60FN.

I'd probably just stick with the SSD instead of bothering with an additional 1 GB drive 🙂

I like this one, really nice...

🙂

what is that?
I really like it, very nice and neat.

LOL. I don't know!

It is an old aluminum baking sheet, some aluminum angle leftover from a job, some other misc. crap, and a can of juicy orange spray paint.

The only problem I have with that type of setup is fan noise. I hate noise so a case really is a must for me. My rigs are all very quiet, almost silent.

Noise was the whole reason I made it. I figured rather than use fans to remove heat build-up from inside a case, maybe just get rid of the case and the fans altogether? The power supply is a pretty quiet Corsair and boxed in to make it more so. The one other fan has an in line resistor to really slow it down. I don't think I even need the cpu fan but it is quiet enough that I left it there.

Sitting out in the open three feet from me I have to actively listen to hear any noise.
