decisions, decisions.

I want to get a computer desk for a little den that I have and I am undecided between the following two I saw at officemax:

hutch
and
no hutch

The old computer desk I had have no hutch, but for some reason I keep thinking that having a hutch will provide me with a lot of extra space for storage, but this design would make the den look cluttered.

what type of computer desk setup do you have ATOT? show me. And which of these desks do you recommend that I should get?

I'm not a fan of hutches, I would go with a nice wide L desk and a storage rack/shelf somewhere else in the room. The utility of having your storage within arm's reach is outweighed by the clutter IMO

5'x2.5' Ikea Vika flat desk. I like a flat desk with a lot of space. This is the largest I could fit in this room but I would have gone larger.

Hutch = bad, you'll want the open space in case you decide to get multiple/bigger monitors in the future.

if you get a hutch than your monitor space is limited and you pretty much have to stick it against a wall. The space is nice though but I prefer no hutch.

I wouldn't be able to work with all that stuff right above my head. No hutch for sure, desks are cramped enough.

I always think I need a hutch but the only things I ended up storing in it was junk and dust bunnies. Last desk I bought was just a simple flat desk, no drawers or anything. Forces me to keep it tidy if I want a place to work.

It's a homemade bench, 9'5" wide, 30" deep, 30" high. Two sheets of particle board with a Formica sheet on top, braced with 2x4's. No hutch, the wall ahead is blank, I'm considering either putting posters up there, or hanging a TV if I ever get one. Don't really need a hutch with all this space anyways.
