do you mean the screensaver?

the banner is a line of text on the main screen...usually it's customizeable

mine has that and the time and date right below it

I find it curious no one puts their name on their banner.

To me it seemed the logical choice in case I left my phone somewhere people would know who's phone it was.

Come on... you don't think they could easily figure that out from the contacts in your phone book?

At any rate, I'm more likely to leave it someplace where people know me, therefore having my name on it makes it easier for those people to get it back to me.

sure...you could also put your address and alarm code on there as well....just in case you aren't home they canset it on your coffee table for you to find :laugh:

You missed the point.

The thief calls the contacts one my one saying this: I found this phone and need to get it back to it's owner. Do you know who's number I'm calling from?

I guarantee one or more of your contacts will give out your name, if not more.

A thief seeing my name on my phone makes me no less secure. However, it does make it easier for friends and acquaintances to return my phone if I leave it somewhere.
