What does Warez stand for... ?

It doesn't "stand" for anything:

warez

/weirz/ A term used by software pirates use to describe a cracked game or application that is made available to the Internet, usually via FTP or telnet, often the pirate will make use of a site with lax security.

my bad, I was thinking in terms of it being an acronym for something

I used to pronounce it like "wares". But, I've heard it spoken by so many people as "Wear-ehz" that that's how I pronounce it now. Any comments?

When first released if was supposed to be pronounced jif....seems like half of the people now days say G-if.

I remember seeing the word "warez" back in 1983 on BBS's i used to go on with my C64🙂. And it meant the same then as it does now.
