Hi guys,

it says in the manual for p4b266 that turbo1 and turbo 2 mode for optimazation "enhances system
performance and overclocking capability."

What does this turbo mode do?

I've got 1.6A that would fail prime96 after 3 hours. However after I set to turbo mode it's stilling running
prime95 after 6 hours. I'll have to check after work to see if it's still running though.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Turob 1 is said to lock the PCI bus at 33mhz, while letting the FSB run at higher speeds.

Turbo 1 locks PCi/AGP to 35/72, Turbo 2 locks it a bit higher, and Normal mode is dependant on the FSB speed.

This is all hearsay. Nobody has ever proven it as far as I've seen. I emailed Asus to get to the bottom of this, I'll post back when/if they reply.

Yes people have proven it. Someone at the [Hard Forums did a test from 101-200 FSB using Turbo 1, and the PCI/AGP was always as close to 35/72 as it could get, he said the average speed was 35.7 for the PCI.

He posted his benches, it is confirmed.

Asus isn't gonna tell you anything, believe me, you'll be lucky to even get a reply, set your board to Turbo 1 and get a program like Sandra to see for yourself.

As Dash said, people with the right tools and hardware have performed the tests to confirm. You can find details on the hardware used to perform the test, and the test itself, by searching Hardforum.com.

I have and a forum member by the name of "ase" is the only person that has supposedly tested it. When I checked a few days ago, he had a total of 8 posts, so you'll have to forgive my sceptisism.

Sandra doesn't accurately report the PCI/AGP clocks. You have to use a oscicilator or however you spell it.
