What does this mean?

I built a new computer and have been trying to install Windows. I completely partition the drive successfully and then Windows installs itself 100% and says the install was successful and that the computer needs to reboot to continue the setup. The computer automatically reboots after 15 seconds, but it does not boot up Windows.

Instead i get this error message:

"Windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware configuration problem.
Could not write from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk hardware.
Please check the Windows documentation about hardware disk configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional information."

Both my copy of Windows and my hard disk were OEM, and so came without any documentation.

What does this mean? Is there a problem with my copy of Windows or have i connected my SATA hard drive incorrectly? Surely i wouldn't have been able to partition the drive had it been wrongly connected.

Does anyone know what i can do to resolve this problem?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Did you press F6 and provide the SATA drivers while the windows setup was starting?

No, i assumed it would ask for them through an additional device. I don't have a floppy drive. However, i slipstreamed the drivers into my XP disc. I thought that seeing as windows recognised the drive (for the partition and installation) then they had been successful...

You didnt slipstream them properly. Thats exactly what happens when it doesnt have the drivers.

Jonny. To slipstream them should i press F6? Or is it simply that i've integrated the wrong files using nLite?
