We'll need more information....like what is causing explorer to crash. Once we know that, we stand a better chance at helping you. Without Microsoft's in-house tools it's almost impossible for us to decode much more out of that error message.

Yup. The 3 finger salute works nicely if it's locked or just pull the plug.
