What does the "I" stand for in CGI when you're talking about special fx?

I always thought it was just computer graphics, as in CG effects...

but it's not special effects, you're talking about visual effects. Special effects are sometimes referred to as practical effects. Things like a car that was set to blow up. Miniatures are special or practical effects. Visual effects are all computer generated.
