The title says it all. If someone could explain it in laymans terms I would be truely thankful!

The reason I am asken I just got a geforce 2 and I am playen with the settings to see what it will do. It tells me it will go all the way up to 140Hz but when I get it up that high the bottom of my screen seems to be a little fuzzy. Oh yeah, I have a KDS Visual Sensations 195e 19inch monitor too!

Thanks again!

Hz is how quickly the monitor refreshed the information from your Graphics card.

Tv's refersh at a rate of 50-60hz, which is flickery by monitor standards. the higher the hz the quicker the monitor can refresh the picture on the screen.

Some settings are not supported by all monitors although it normally auto-detects (this may not be 100% accurate)

What Resolution are you at, 1024x768? 1280x1024?

With a 19" monitor I would go for one of these, 85hz is a minimal for flicker free, but 100hz is preferable, anything higher is not really totally neccessary.

I'd say anything over 75Hz is acceptable. Below that, and you get flicker. (Especially out of the corner of your eye)

800x600, that must be pretty huge on a 19" monitor, I find it big on my 17", I am running 1152 x 864 @ 85hz.

If you do wanna stay at that res, you should aim at 100hz refresh, you could jack it right up to 140hz but may as well make it easy on your monitor, there won't be a noticable difference.

I take it we're not talking about red alert counterstrike then, 1200X768, weird setting.
