what does the 3.3V support?

Today while playing some Unreal I noticed my screen starting to "tear". I quit the game to be greeted by my ASUS pc probe flashing that my 3.3 volts was way out of spec. It looked like it said it was at .350. :Q I went up to 3.0 for a second then back down towards .300 I'm assuming the vid card runs at that voltage and that is why I had video problems..

It has never done this before and my PS is less then a year old.. It is a 470W TTGI unit from Directron.

Got a multimeter? I don't trust Asus Probe. It has some strange ideas about my 12V line.

ATX connector 😀 If you look down on the connector as it's plugged into the board, orient your view so the "latch" is on the top side and the two pins at the far right end are +3.3V. At the other end you have a +12V on the lower deck and a +5V on the top deck, with the latch side being the "top."

I guess the proof is in the pudding of course... if your system is misbehaving and it coincides with the 3.3V line dipping, you're probably right about the cause. I just can't believe the system would keep running if the 3.3V truly dropped to under 1V.

I couldn't beleive it said .3xx I was like huh, how could it be that low.... It was time for work so I just shut it down. I start it up when I get home here in a few and see what happens.

The video card runs at 3.3v ......... some of the newer generations run at 1.5v!

No they don't. AGP _supply_ voltage still is 3.3V, only the signalling voltage has gone down to 1.5V for 4x and 0.8V for 8x modes.

mechBgon, are there other places you can measure voltage/amperage on the mobo with a multi-meter? For instance, can you measure how much voltage the memory is getting? 🙂

you would have to see a picture but yes if you know where to measure....there is a 6 pin mosfit (?)by the memory slots you can measure one pin and get a reading...

Thanks for the info...if any of you guys have links or info or whatever, I'd appreciate it...I want to measure everything...🙂

the few i found were at the forum over at amdmb.com.........the iwill forum i think it was.....been a few months ago......do a search you should find it......if not, post in forum.....good luck...

Thanks for the correction Peter.
Some of the video cards will not work correctly with this 1.5v signaling though, right?
I read that some Matrox models won't work properly (certain G-400's).
