What does Nader hope to accomplish?

Just saw him on Hannity and Comes tonight.

Clearly, he has NO CHANCE of winning the election.

From what I've read, he isn't a big fan of Bush or Kerry, but most of his anti-government rants are very anti-Bush.

If he would rather not have GWB as the president, wouldn't he help accomplish that task by not running? Didn't he - all other things aside, cost Gore the Florida vote last year?

So other than being a thorn in the side of the 'establishment', what good does he hope for?

To represent a group of people who are unrepresented or feel disenfranchised by the Democratic and Republican platforms and/or candidates.

Same reason Badnarik is running, I wager.

Yes, he's someone you can vote for if you decide not to vote for the lesser of two evils. If he syphons off votes he forces the Democrats (otherwise know as "Republican Lites") to address issues that would not be otherwise addressed.

Yep, probably, except Nader seems to have this obsession with a fringe of the left and in doing so has marginalized himself, cutting himself off from "mainstream" America.

And no - no he didn't "cost" Gore the Election. Gore lost it for him self.

Correct, but at least he's representing the fringe left. Much as I disagree with the extreme left's views on many issues, I respect their right to have a candidate who embraces their views.

And Instant Runoff Voting could only make our nation a better place.

I agree that Gore lost the 2000 election all by himself. But I don't think Ralph is after leftist fringe votes exclusively. Funny how he and the 'Buke seem to cross paths...

Read:

Ralph Nader As Mad Bomber (I've posted this before but it's relevant, scroll down to the bottom section)

And...

Ralph Nader: Conservatively Speaking (his recent interview with Buchanan for The American Conservative)

I think Ralph's a narcisisstic, megalomaniacal schmuck, but I don't think he's necessarily out to wreck Kerry. I think he's just out to feed his ego.

To bump up his speaking fee and inevitably sell books of course.

Nader doesn't even really consider the possibility of being elected president.

Nader does consider, however, that if he gets a high enough percentage of the vote many more opportunities will be available to third party candidates in the future.

The reason Nader cannot win is because his policies are extremely threatening to the mainstream media and most large multinational corporations.

Nader is truly a man for the people . . . and that does not coincide with the agenda of most politicians in Washington.

On consumer issues yes, on politics...um...no.
