I have always thought that "lol" could have one of two meanings depending on what context it is used in.

1. Laughing Out Loud
2. Lots Of Laughs

Assuming I'm not the only one who believes "lol" could stand for one of two phrases than "lolz" could be that individuals way of specifying:

3. Lots Of Laughz
