What does it mean when my Aopen CDRW starts buzzing and after a while fails to write?

Sounds like it's dead? Where did all that buzzing come from? Was taking a long to to write...then refused. The Toshiba DVD ROM drive is starting to buzz too...still reads though...

open the tray drive, then get compressed air and blow in it. could be dust on lenses, if that don't work, i think its dying

i agree, clean out the drive; also, because i had this problem in the past; double check the power connector. i have a yamaha drive and ran into trouble with a loose power connector, and it did make the buzzing noise and failed to read/write on several occasions. once i got the power straightened out, everything was fine. good luck
