What does it mean to play god?

Really, the statement is so misused. Is cloning a human playing god? Is creating a sentient computer playing god? Not even close. In the strictest sense, playing god would mean snapping your fingers and having a planet miraculously appear populated with stupid animals. Until we figure out a way to do that, no one on earth is even close to playing god.

Anyways, playing God is doing things that people think we have no right meddling with. Basiclly it's where the power of the science scares the people. Cloning and things SCARE people so they try to stop it.

I really have no idea. It may depend on how you look at things.

For example, a lot of people will die without organ transplants. There are a limited number of organs available for transplant needs. The hospitals, doctors, or whomever decide who gets a life giving transplant and who doesn't are in a small way playing god.

No ones exactly how God creates so it's kind of hard to say that he goes *poof* and there it is.

Some say he creates by word which means that he speaks and there it is. In this sense writers create, although they cannot create living things, only the fiction of such.

Some say doctors play god when they hold life in their hands.


Maybe right now no human can claim to play god, but is there potential that somewhere down the road we will be able to?
