Does anyone know what this program is and what it does? the file name is Hidserv.exe and i found it in my c:\windows\system folder. The reason why I ask is because when using 'msconfig' to see what is loaded when my computer starts up it is one of the programs loaded. I want to know if i can delete it (right now i just have it unselected to load with windows, but for some reason windows (or someother program) loads it (hidserv) and makes it run when windows it started up. This has to be caused when the mistery program is loaded. So just keeping it unselected does not help. This entire hunt was caused by my reasorces were down to about 64% and now that i have 'hidserv.exe' unselected they are back up to around 84%.

Thanks

Just in case it matters I am running Windows 98SE

According to Microsoft, hidserv.exe is a file in Windows 98 Second Edition. It stands for Stands for "Human Interface Device Service." It is a file that deals with keyboards, mice, and other devices connected through the USB bus. It is an official Windows file and has nothing to do with "mining" information from your computer.
