The context is: "Good Ol' Boys Network" -- Essentially, this is a term utilized for the way a management team works within a company. Getting promoted in one of these environments is essentially impossible because the "network" has their own criteria and unless you fall into the "network" or meet their criteria, you will not be accepted within this network.

Where I come from (south) it means dumb hick. There are some good guys that go by the old code of the south, chivalry and all that jazz, they aren't bad, then there are the wannabes that want nothing more than to live in their trailor park, hunt gators with their huntin dawgs and smack around their wives.
