What does "DSCF" stand for?

My digital camera, as well as some other digicams that I know of have file image names beginning with DSCF. Is that an acronym for something? (I own a Fuji 2600 BTW)

DSC might stand for "Digital Still Camera". Don't know about the F.

F = Fuji

N= Nikon as in DSCN

Hmm... but then why does Sony use the same DSCF acronym? (at least I think they do)

I don't think there is a real standard, my Nikon 995 uses DSCN#### for jpgs and I believe something else for .TIFF files.

I've also seen Cameras that use PIC####

i personally think that it is a type of quick image file look up.
an example is DSCF0001,which would meet find file with name 0001.
some times it might be DSCx or DSCN, because of the sorter program or hardware was made or is used by fujjifilm or Nikon, ect.
