What do they do anyway?

Are they like Toyota or Ford or something?

Do they just make components that they sell to Toyota et al?

They're an OEM. They used to be owned by GM, but are now their own company (which means they can sell to companies other than GM now).

Around here they used to make the headlights for Ford. They got bought out or something and now they are Guide.

Delphi is the world's biggest auto parts maker. It was divested from General Motors a few years ago. General Motors remains their biggest customer, and owns a large chunk of their stock.

Among their newer products are Quadrasteer (4 wheel steering) featured on the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, and MagnaRide (magnetic ride stabilization) which will be featured on the 2004 Cadillac XLR.

When I worked at STMicro, the saw many of the projects that ST was working on for Delphi and Johnson Controls. Pretty neat. Damn NDAs.
