I've forgotten more about football than you'll ever know and probably have watched football much, much longer than you. All you know is the same old tired schtick -- MANNING CHOKES!! BRADY DOESN'T!!!

At any rate, all of this is irrelevant. It has clearly been shown via PatsFan(tm) logic that Eli Manning is obviously the best QB in the NFL. He is undefeated in multiple SB appearances and is 2-0 against Tom Brady. There is no need for additional argument since Eli Manning is so clearly established as the superior QB. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers -- none matter compared to the awesomeness of Eli.

I'm trying to understand ICF logic. Peyton Manning has won 1 of the 2 Super Bowls he's appeared in. Tom Brady has won 3 of the 5 he appeared in. So in both terms of sheer appearances and win percentage, Brady wins if that's your metric. If you're basing comparisons on stats, Peyton has an edge but it's not an overwhelming one. They're both obviously fine QBs, arguably both in the category of some of the best to ever play the game. That ICF is spending this much time trying to argue about which is "better" betrays a massive inferiority complex on his part.

In all of the years I've watched football I don't think I've ever heard the "Peter" protocol where you scream "Peter peter peter" if you are too close to a punt or live ball.

Now I've heard it twice in a day on two completely different situations. One was early Sunday morning on a clip about Leon Lett and his botched play on a blocked punt. They talked about screaming "Peter" for him to get away from it. Now they are talking about it again with Welker and his situation.

I've never heard of that practice before. And then I hear it twice in two completely unrelated situations on Sunday. Odd.

Most teams have a "poison" call or whatever word they use. It is supposed to let the guys blocking the gunners know to clear out. Welker made a big mistake not calling it earlier. He guy who the ball hit was not at fault for that bad punt.

Joe Montana never lost a Superbowl. Neither did Trent Dilfer. Best QBs of all time?

Does NBC's SNF stream suck pretty hard for anybody else? Mine was buffering and bitching about "limited bandwidth" pretty regularly. So much so that when I heard Denver scored to tie it at 31 from a friend I had literally just seen the final Patriots touchdown a minute prior. I refreshed the page and the stream jumped like 8-10 minutes ahead lol.

Yeah, I don't get it. I just hope it stays in this thread. Every year, it's the same Peyton vs Brady broohaha involving the usual suspects, and it doesn't mean anything in the end.

This is why I jettisoned fanboyism a few years ago. I used to get to the point of sounding so entertainingly dumb to the people around me. It's a disease.
😀

That's how I am about my Raiders and our awesome QB!

(quick...what's our QB's name?)

The argument has been made for Montana as greatest ever. And arguably his backup for several years - Steve Young - might have been a better QB than any of them. Would have been interesting to see how his career would have gone outside the USFL stint and such. Also, could you imagine if either Peyton or Brady had Jerry Rice to throw to in the prime of their careers?

Well Peyton wasn't too far off with Harrison. He's probably right under Rice in terms of production, he just didn't have the longevity.

For the love of god, it's a team sport. While QB is certainly the most important position on the team, it's not the only deciding factor of who wins or who loses. Using SB wins as an metric for QB success is just lazy.

So Manning lost a game they were favored in. It happens. Who was a prohibitive favorite in SB 42 and favored again in SB 46? Who won those games? For all this talk of losing "big games" as it applies to Manning, Brady sure seems to have his share of losses on the world's biggest stage.

The intelligent football fan knows (read carefully, you might learn something) that in most cases, a single play can RARELY be blamed solely for a team's loss in and of itself. For example, let's take the AFC Championship example I listed where Brady threw an INT at mid-field to end the game. Had the situation been reversed, ATOT would've been filled with posts from you and other deluded Pats fans saying "MANNING CHOKED AGAIN!!! HAHAHA!!!" who completely and totally ignored the fact that the defense gave up an 18 point lead.

However, when Brady does it, the defense and Reche Caldwell got all the blame. Now, to be clear, I don't really blame Brady for that loss -- he definitely contributed but the defense lost an 18 point lead and shares the responsibility. There was plenty of blame to go around and he was just one player, the same as in Manning's case in most of those losses. Yes, he had some bad games but take a look at Brady's horrible play against the Ravens in the playoffs. The point here is that Pats fans are blind, hypocritical homers.

This is why when a team loses and you talk to the head coach, they're going to rattle off a list of reasons why they lost and 9 times out of 10, missed opportunities is at the top. I guarantee Bill Belichick wasn't screaming about Brady's interception in the AFC Championship but probably was screaming about missed opportunities like botched possessions, etc.

In the end the Giants had what it took to stop a high-powered passing attack, getting after the QB, who is favored in Vegas means nothing, who can make plays on the field is everything..
