:::sigh:::

I gave you a clue.

Here's the answer:

Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit

It has nothing to do with the contents of the sandwich.

as was indicated earlier in the thread.. it's definitely not Big Meat TRIO... why..

Classic Italian B.M.T.
(ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, bologna)

a trio indicates 3... this sandwich has 4 meats ;)

also check THIS out ;)

1975 - The chain?s flagship sandwich, the classic BMT, is first introduced. Going along with the subway transportation theme, it is named for the Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit system; later it is known as Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest. The first Subway in Massachusetts opens in the city of Springfield. The Watergate scandal is in full throttle, and "Saturday Night Live" aims its satirical wit at all targets. Red Ford Torinos with white stripes cruise the nation?s highways as "Starsky and Hutch" fight crime on prime time.

So.. it started out as being named for Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit ... then became known as Biggest, Meatiest, Tastiest. We have TWO winners ;)

Regis, I think I recall Amused One saying he owned a Sandwhich shop one time in this Forum so I'm going to use him for my Life Line and say Brooklyn-Manhattan Transit

Hmm, I have noticed that some places don't include the ham in the BMT, but others do.... (it's my favorite subway sandwich, btw)
