What does AnandTech mean?

Yup... basically Anand Lal Shimpi, the founder of this site, became a millionaire as a teenager 😉

the short: guy named Anand started a technology-related website. you do the math.

the long:

Anand Shimpi
Editor in Chief & CEO

The sole founder of AnandTech, Anand Shimpi started the site in April of 1997 as one of the very first independent PC technology sites for IT professionals and enthusiasts. A graduate of North Carolina State University, Anand studied Computer Engineering with a focus in microprocessor architecture and design. Armed with the mind and the eyes of an engineer, Anand brings a unique direction and guidance to the rest of the AnandTech staff. However, it was Anand's passion and not his education that originally brought him to the technology industry and it continues to be that passion that fuels him and acts as the driving force behind AnandTech.

Anand currently oversees all day-to-day operations of AnandTech, has weekly meetings with the staff to plan out the editorial calendar and organize content and works on an individual basis with each AnandTech Editor to develop and perfect their content.

With a continued passion to write, Anand is still a very active contributor to reviews on AnandTech as well; he can often be found authoring many of his own articles, publishing personal updates on his weblog or co-authoring articles where his technical expertise is needed.

Outside of AnandTech, Anand is quite devoted to his fiancée Vinney, with whom he spends the majority of his time. It is often said that behind every man there's a strong woman and Anand is no different. Vinney is often involved in many of the key operations behind AnandTech, supporting Anand as he continues to search for new and better ways to serve the AnandTech community.
