What does an S in an Honda Accord mean?

The green S that lights up in the Accord 91. It lights up so what does it mean?

S is in the dashboard, it's a Honda Accord LX 1991. It's a green S. I don't have the owners manual but I do have the Chilton manual but I don't know where in Chilton it is.

You have some sort of a "sport" mode on the car? A button that changes the shift patterns of the transmission or anything?
