What does an "s-cable(tv)" actually do?

I'm not exactly sure what it does. Does it just connect your graphics card to your monitor? Or does it connect your graphics card to your tv and you can view things on the tv? Sorry for the question im just trying to make sure of things!

As long as the TV has a S-Video input, yes. But you're normally limited to 640x480 or 800x600 for resolution (depending on your TV..only the newer TVs, as far as I know, support 1024x768). Also, the appearance on a TV isn't nearly as good as on your monitor, so there's not too much use for the conventional user to use it.

Ok, thanks for the input. That's what I thought it did. Are there different types of S-Cables? Like some having more pins for instance? For compatibilty issues?

S-video cables are very similar in appearance to PS2 cables, but have fewer pins. They are all variations on the mini-din plug.

An S-video cable is an S-video cable, they should all be the same, even though some will have better shielding and thicker wires.

If he's talking about some "S-Cable(tv)," who's to say it's not a SCART lead?

I've never heard S-Video called an "S-Cable" though I would assume that it is S-Video...
