microsoft developer network, so it's for providing developers/administrators a sandbox to test and develop their software right?

if my company has MSDN subscriptions, can i download and use Windows 7 on my company PC?
is it like an enterprise version, doesn't require activation, will not expire etc.?

Just get TechNet. MSDN is more geared towards devs.

In any case, regardless, there are some restrictions. You're not supposed to use the TechNet software in an actual production environment. Test environment is fine but actual production environment is a no no. That's according to the license terms.

MSDN FAQ

Description of MSDN on Wikipedia.org

My understanding is there's no such thing as a "company" MSDN subscription. MSDN subscriptions are licensed to individuals, who are responsible for the correct use of the products. As noted, except for MS Office, the software is intended for software development. Personal or business use is contrary to the licensing.

Check the AT Hot Deals or Slickdeals for some 25% off codes - $250 will get you access to all MS software, including latest Office.
Gizbug - the only version you can get for $50 is Win 7 Home Premium with 1 license, and that was a limited time offer.

You are correct. Each developer needs to have an individual license. However, if the company has a select agreement, there is a program that offers use of Office and Windows at home. Basically talk to your SA admin and they can provide you a link to a site where you can buy the media for like $20. I can't remember the exact name since I've had an MSDN subscription for 7+ years.
