<< To have an IQ of 162 means diddly-squat unless one knows which test was used. >>

I think the better statement is "To have an IQ of 162 means diddly-squat."

<< One excellent thing about being involved with Mensa is that you learn that a high IQ is not necessarily accompanied by good judgment, a diligent attitude, common sense, or an agreeable personality - all of which are factors that have more to do with success in life than an alleged genius-level test score. >>

You had to resort to joining MENSA before you finally learned that? What are you, a non-genius? ;)

I don't believe this test is very accurate. Average Americans IQ is around 100. Genius is 135, so each point is worth quite a lot. 162 would be not just be an genius, but an elite genius. Albert Einstein was 210.

Hmmm, a 29 on the ACT seems fairly low, as well as a 1250 on the SAT

Food for thought -

If you have an IQ of 130 - you are ahead of about 95% of the US population
If you have an IQ of 145 - you are ahead of about 99.7% of the US population
If you have an IQ of 160 - you are ahead of about 99.99% of the US population

spooky huh?

does anyone know a website with a fairly nice description of this sort of stuff?

I took three IQ tests as a child (actually low teens). I recall very litle of them, but I do recall they had a difference. One was given to me by the school to get my admittance into the gifted program, and two were given to me by a friend of my mom (acting as a school psychologist) because my mom was trying to figure out why I never did my homework.

Where can I read up on the different tests, and how their point values work.

145 = 99.7 percentile?
wow considering that it usually means 98 percentile in the world, I guess America must either: A. have less geniuses, or B. have a lot of dumbasses. hahaha I think I pick..... B

tests online are fake. I've taken one saying i had a 190. I'm pretty smart guy like 99tile SATs but 190 is a bit outrageous.

Mensa meetings are fun sometimes, but what's sad and pathetic is how it's a little badge of honor for so many people. Whenever I see a bumper sticker I laugh my a$$ off b/c this person has such low self-esteem, he needs to convince others via a bumper sticker that he's an especially useful member of society. ;)

Online IQ tests are quite meaningless, I've gotten well above 100 before, and also gotten as little as about 65-70, and since I know I have an above average intelligence that just ain't right!

All IQ tests are meaningless. There's no way to measure intellegence, and there never will be. :Q:p

Book smarts don't mean a thing if you're a social vegetable. I'm thinking starting a thread titled "what does an IQ level of 162 mean?" comes pretty close. Like those people that insist including "PhD" on all their documents. Uhhh... yea... who cares if you wrote a discertation on "Great 12th Century Literature Written By Guys Named Slav".

That test really sucked because I got bored and started clicking on random items and came up with a 155.

I took a whole class in the Psychology core about why these tests don't mean anything.... and then a course how to apply these meaningless tests in Industrial Psychology, which is another way to say "Human Resources"

I studied to become Catbert!

Buahahahahahahah!
