What does a refractometer do?

Cleaning up some stuff, and I see I have one. No idea what it does. Maybe in conjunction with aquarium stuff or something?

WOW, thanks Ajay, that makes perfect sense - at one time I was going to set up a salt-water aquarium, but I long since gave up that idea. Thanks!!!

When I had a saltwater tank I used one to measure the salinity of the water in the tank.
