True testament to marketing....they advertise more than any other brand and they have the signature bird poop on the top of the cap which everyone that is looking will recognize....it is like any other mediocre product that gets mass market attention because they spend the big bucks pushing the product over the rest.

Vintage MB used to be ok, but nothing special, the new ones are all sizzle and little steak.

If you are buying only for the name appeal and public reaction then MB is the only way to go, but if you want a truly good pen then there are many other much nicer options

I modified some G2's to fit the montblanc refills...so I have a $2 Montblanc pen.

I don't mind paying for quailty but wouldn't go with something of lesser quality just for the reaction it got from people.

No Tag or Rolex watches for me. Breitling and Omega

I thought it would have an inscription reading "the owner of this pen is a dumbass".

Nice Koing,

I used to be of the mindset that if people don't notice then it isn't worth the money but after owning a few "big name brands" most notably with Rolex I discovered that if you are at all a true "enthusiast" of the craft chances are these brands will always let you down as their workmanship while ok isn't the greatest and generally their value when compared to other brands is non existant.

I now buy things to impress myself and not every meatball on the street...not to mention generally those brands are more sausage magnets than anything else, I cannot even count the number of bafoons who approached me about my Rolex and the conversations were always pretty horrible. I would much rather have something that sparked an interesting conversation less frequently than something which everyone recognized.

I'm actually trying to look into getting a little security camera that would be like a webcam that would point straight at my dorm room door when I go to NYC because I have stuff like that.
