What does 10/32 and 12/24 mean?

i'm looking to buy a network rack but i'm wondering what does 10/32 and 12/24 mean? I know its about hole spacing but what about the hole spacing? thanks.

that is definitely screw sizing
10 is the diameter, 32 threads/inch
ditto for the 12/24.
go with the 10-32.

for rack vertical spacing they typically use the units of "u"
1 "u" = 1.75"

You'll be much better off if you get a square-hole rack and use cage nuts to bolt things in.

The reason why is that many rails that come with servers expect to have square hole racks and you have to order new rails if you want to use a rack that just has the threaded holes.

I have a full rack, and only a couple of the devices would have mounted in a rack without square holes unless I bought new rails.

Something to keep in mind.
