Bateluer, it depends on what you like to do. Ever since I got the iPad 2, my laptop is collecting dust. I mostly used my laptop for reading, watching videos, browsing the interwebz, and all in all killing time in class. The iPad 2 does all these things for me in a compact device. On top of the I can be away from the outlet for 10 hours and not worry about my batter dying on me and I don't have to lug around 5-6 pounds just to consume entertainment.

iPad 2 and all the other devices are built for consumption, you really can't do any real work on tablets unless you buy those keyboard attachments that a lot of people are coming out with.

Break it down for you:
A Tablet is:
1.) Good for reading
2.) Browsing
3.) Playing light weight games like Angry Birds etc listed above.
4.) Watching Youtube/Netflix/HBO GO/Other videos comfortably.
5.) Carrying around and not worrying about batteries dying.

If your primary goal is to be productive, this device is really not for you.

I'm really trying to find a reason to buy a tablet.

It concerns me that so many people this thread are using a device primarily controlled through touch input for toilet reading and porn. Yuck.

Well, it does cut down on people wanting to borrow it. When I walk out of the can, my GF and her kids see me with my transformer and have never asked to see it.
