I dont use mine much anymore. It seems i can get better deals locally from , rite aid, walgreens, etc.

But now that i need to save more (new apt , high $$$) what else are good deals? I think the best think ive ever gotten from costco was canned air.

If only NY had more walmarts :(

They do at our costco. It's almost always cheaper than the local prices, usually by 3-10 cents.

I go to Sam's, it's usually cheaper but doesn't carry as many higher end items as Costco, but for food goods and just every day stuff it's great IMO.

Plus their gas is cheaper than Costco (near me at least)

Yes Costco has gasoline.

I recommend their take and bake pizzas and chocolate chip cookies. I live on these things.

Just bought a beautiful bed with a trundle for my daughter for $429. Then grabbed a nice Sealy mattress for $159 or so. While I was there got a nice pair of boot cut Levis for $20 (spent about 17 seconds finding my size as opposed to an hour browsing clearance racks at department stores to get the same price on nice jeans).

My wife is also a fan of those nice Christmas cards they sell every holiday season.

Used to get Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough in bulk.

Heck, dude, lots of stuff.

Gas, electronics (when they have a sale - got our Panasonic 61" LCD projection TV there), canned foods, paper towels/TP, whole grain bread (their high end loves of bread are much cheaper per loaf than local grocery stores), frozen prepped foods (rice bowls, etc), Gatorade (they always seem to have a B1G1F coupon on that, making it about .50/bottle), the list goes on and on and on. We have an Executive Membership and the cash back we get from it more than pays for the membership fees (I think they're around $100/year now).

We're only a family of 2. I can't imagine what it'll be like once we start a family.

i probably spend over 50% of all my "store" money at costco these days. i even eat lunch there some work-days. their prices on meat, cheese, milk, alcohol, et cetera are just crazy, and you will NOT find better sale prices elsewhere on those items. i also buy all my gas at costcos. the one near my work is 20 cents/gallon cheaper than the independant one freeway exit away. i also buy tires there, though michelins are not cheap, even at costco prices. they fill them with nitrogen, BTW.

and yeah, you can occasionaly do better by watching sales at other stores like a hawk for certian items, but you need to figure your time and travel time into the equation. if i can go to costco for nearly all my shopping and pay 1% more than i would have by spending many additional hours of my time, that's another costco bargin. i go into one store and buy motor oil, light bulbs, groceries, wine, a soccer ball, etc. to equal the prices i paid, i would have to wait weeks to find all the sales and drive to tons of different stores, wasting gas (and gas money) in the process.

You got lucky with the size thing; I've found that Costco rarely has my size for the kind of pant that I want (I'm fairly average-sized, 32x30 - I thought it was a common size...).

Oh, and Costco's cookies and pies are TO DIE FOR. Their white chocolate and macadamia cookies are the second best I've ever had.

Groceries...particularly meat, juice, coldcuts and stuff like granola bars all offer a signifigant savings for me versus the grocery store. (I pay between 2-4 times as much for this stuff at the grocery store) And there are huge savings from stuff like paper towels, dish and laundry detergent, garbage bags, toilet paper and other boring sh|t like that.

i try to buy most of our electronics and small kitchen appliances from costco because of their return policy. i bought an electric pressure washer from them few months ago and now realize its not strong enough. i plan to return it and buy their gas version. i know for certain they'll gladly take it back. thats why i buy from them even though they don't always have the cheapest prices for electronics and blenders or whatever.

anything and everything!
From my weekly gas to the weekend pizza.
I'm but 2-3 blocks from Costco, and work about 15 minutes from another.
On my route home I pass about 5 more on the way I could stop at if I wanted to. (I've been tempted)
It's so bad, I like to just take strolls through my local Costco sometimes.
Dawsome!

I just bought a pair of sunglasses there for a great price. I'm not a member though, used my mother-in-law's card.

We're getting a Costco here soon and we were talking about it last night. How does the membership work, do you need one to shop there like Sams? I'd like to check it out, but I'm not sure if it'd be worth it for the amount of stuff one person would buy.
