What do you use to read RSS feeds?

What are users using for RSS feeds these days? A browser plugin? Vista Sidebar? Yahoo widgets?
Want quick access to different RSS feeds and haven't found a true solution yet.
I do find it more convenient to view the RSS on desktop, opposed to opening up a web browser.

bloglines.
how is it more convenient to have to install a desktop app to read your feeds? having them accessible on the web lets you mark things as 'read' from multiple places instead of having to read the same crap at work, at home, and at school, or other. Plus, you can keep them organized in one place as well... if you add a feed on one computer, you dont have to sync to another...etc.

I've just found it more convienent on the windows sidebar, to see the top new headlines, and read them (by clicking) if they interest me. If it doesn't interest me, the updated headlines get refreshed every minute.
Only issue with vista sidebar, is there is no good gadget out there to display multiple feeds. I have to open up 5 gadgets to read 5 feeds.

Interesting. I would have thought users would find it more convenient to just see feeds on their desktop than having to open and navigate in a browser window

google desktop sidebar.

rss readers have been built into browsers for a lot longer than widgets have been popular, so i'm not surprised.

I used Netvibes (and liked it) for a long time but wanted a standalone so I bought Feed Demon. Let me tell you, it is well worth the $29.95. Even better, I can use NewsGator's site to follow my feeds free and have everything marked/saved/flagged at home in Feed Demon.

I'll take a look at netvibes and google reader. It look like netvibes though is a seperate program. Kind of want to avoid having "another program" open just to read rss feeds. but ill take a look.

Netvibes is a web-based reader.

I tried google reader and netvibes for a few days. I still find it a pain to have to load a web page to read different news headlines.
I'm back to using 3 or 4 gadgets on vista sidebar so I can see feeds on the desktop and click on ones that interest me to load it up on a webpage. Seems to be more efficient.

I wanted to resurrect this because i haven't found anything i like yet. I would also like a standalone, desktop application that displays feed items from all my sources in one list. I would prefer that they not be separated by source. Anyone know of an app to do this?
