What do you use to protect your laptop screen?

I still use the original screen protector. I went without it for one trip and the pressure was enough to get some key-induced scratches on my LCD. Now I don't close my lid without sandwiching it there. I've noticed a few of my professors also do the same thing with their laptops too.

I have a tablet which has a very durable plastic over the actual screen to be able to use the stylus with.

I use nothing to protect the screen. My laptop screen doesn't touch the keys when the lid is down.

Damn. I feel kind of anal retentive. My screen doesn't touch the keys either (normally); but when it's sandwiched in a laptop bag that gets packed into luggage, the frame gives enough to let the screen touch the keys.

Buy a decent laptop and it shouldn't be a problem.

Never heard of a screen touching the keys. That would be a dumb design. I have a Lenovo T60, and am unaware of scratches from the keys (or anything else, but I haven't looked at it closely lately). Then again I don't take the lappy out of the house often, but can't see that makes a difference.

It's not a design issue. If you take almost any closed laptop and press on the screen, it will give enough such that the screen will touch the keys. Sure, it doesn't happen during in-home use; but it does happen if you travel and have to pack your laptop with your luggage. My profs protect their Macbook pros with original sleeves.

Some laptops are poorly made. I've seen a photo or two of screens that had marks (either dust or oil marks, if not something more permanent) where keys had pressed against it while closed.

my protection is that my employer bought it, so if it breaks, no cost to me

not that I don't take good care of it

my employer provided laptops over the past ten years have never broke down or been damaged
