what do you use to get a close shave that doesn't leave any shadow?

I used a norelco shaver but it is not close enough. I still can see a slight shadow of my facial hair. Any recommendations?

Pretty much any kind of razor (disposable, safety, straight edge) against the grain until you can't feel hairs sticking out. This is a problem around the chin and jawline but you will learn.

I can't even with a razor against the grain.
First trim then mechanical then blade due to no razor actually being sharp enough not to try to kill me if used around my mouth.
So yeah it's impossible.

1. Wash face with hot water to open & soften up skin (IMPORTANT)
2. A good shaving cream + razor blade AGAINST the grain

Mach 3, against the grain.
Any cream.

The goop doesnt matter much in the shave. The way good creams distinguish themselves is the effect they have on your skin all day. Good stuff from Aveda, bath and body works, & the body shop all cool and soothe your recently shaved face, also moisturize and condition and leave a pleasant smell. With the really good stuff you dont even need any extra aftershave lotions or oils.

I can shave 8 ways in a hot shower till it's smooth and I'll still have a pretty bad shadow. Depending on your hair it can be impossible.

No matter how much I shave, how close and smooth it feels, I will always have a "shadow". The curse of having dark facial hair.

Maybe it will get better when I go completely gray?

I use a goddamn mach 83478237481739848978912748921 superturbowhaleblower with attached gloryhole and still have a visible shadow during the drive to work. Nothing - not even a barber - can get me shadow free.
