I know...do a search....blah been there done that. The thing is, everyone's suggestions all have problems now.

Kazaa - Most music is encoded in 128kbps...you're lucky if you can find 192kbps
WinMX - Queue city! Out of say 15 people who have a certain song, you can only download from 1 or 2 of those 15 people due to long queue lines.
Blubster - I can't even connect to their servers now.
Direct Connect - this program is a pain for those who have smaller hard drives like myself (40gb)
IRC - Ok I wouldn't know where/how to get the music that *I* want...(which are more rare songs, not mainstream pop stuff)

So what do you guys use to get 192kbps or higher mp3s?
 
I use Kazaa Lite and settle for 128kbps when I can't find a 192. It doesn't make much difference to me anyways.
 
I do not download a lot of music but if I do I get MP3s from newsgroups (quality is 128 to 320 kbps, depending on who posted them).
 
I use blubster. It's definately the best of the file-sharing programs. I must say, with Kaaza lite, however, it seems i get much better search results then with the usual software... weird.
 
agreed that kazaa lite music quality sucks. i can tell the difference between 128 and 192, and especially if the 128 was a radio recording or something weird like that (which i've gotten a LOT)

even worse is they generally don't use eac/lame, probably audio catylst or something cruddy like it.

kazaa is only for when i'm desperate.
 
Downloading MP3's is illegal and wrong. I buy all of my music because I think that the artists deserve to get paid too.
 
Quality sucks? Things are harder to get nowdays? Maybe the RIAA is succeeding in its fight, I am sure they will be happy. I don't download or listen to much music but when I do, I use Kazza. I have never analyzed the difference but I doubt I'd be able to hear it since both sound like CD quality to me.

I don't know if that is supposed to be sarcastic but I will never complain about my brother downloading music from artists such as Eminem and other rap music that I don't think deserves to be bought. Anyway, the quoted pasage is my attitude towards software. I can't believe there are idiots who believe Windows should be free just because Microsoft has a lot of money.

Best for new albums and full albums- Jurassic 5's new one was available a month ago, Xibit's came out 2 weeks ago, and the 8 Mile soundtrack got released this week as well.

Also people post full collections of artists as well as boatloads of bootlegs.
Best part is that you can tell instantly if they're full files, and most are in 192kbps.
 
Connection problems aside, once I got it working Blubster works great and I'll never use anything else.

I leave my 512kbps upload up and serve MP3s all night. Not much, but since I get great speeds with Blubster I figure I'll serve what I have 🙂
