i've been using blubster and it seems ok. there will never be another napster though.

I had to do some research on Copyright Laws in my E-Commerce class, and I found that it is legal to download copyrighted MP3's as long as you delete them within 24 hours of the time you downloaded it. Anyways, most people want to know what they are buying before they buy a cd. Who wants to waste money on junk?

I don't download music anymore, but if I did, I'd probably do it through USENET. I tried installing Kazaa and it installed that Gator thing. That was enough for me to not use it again.

If you are so particular about 192 kbps, download from anywhere decode it and encode it again to bit rate of your choice. Personally I use Kazaa lite and WinMX to download and lame for the encoding and decoding.

You can't replace quality that is lost by recording at 128.

On the phone I was using TubeMate. Can't DL straight to phone anymore, so that sucks. Besides that, I just use Spotify. It's free. Gotta put up with ads, but it's still good.

I'm kinda curious to load them up in a Windows VM to see if it will actually connect. Would take a while but maybe it will actually eventually go through. If enough people are by chance still using it, it will work. The neat thing with these protocols unlike torrents is that they were decentralized.
