What do you use that computing power for?

TV/movies, work/study, gaming, browsing/downloading.

Also, I don;t put my "rig" in my signature because that's unbelievably lame.

I use my system constantly, but nothing I do really taxes it. I mainly use it for internet browsing, working in my home lab, and the occasional game although that seems to be happening less frequently.

I'm actually due for an upgrade this year and I'll probably end up doing it because there are a few games coming out which will benefit from an upgrade (BF:BC2 would also see a benefit). My next upgrade will also basically be free because I've piled up a ton of credit card reward points.

Do you have any clue why people generally put their rigs in their sig?

Mostly gaming, computing some numbers, using excel, etc.

Going 3+ years now on this machine, hopefully can eek out a 3-4 more years out of it.

No, it's efficient when you're on a tech forum, and giving/asking advice regarding hardware. I removed mine when I stopped spending time in the hardware sections. All my stuff is getting old, and my interest is more in free software now.

I use my stuff for web crap, media, and a little graphics work, and office type crap.

Posting this with a 900mhz CeleronM, and 1gb ram :^D

I have an i7 2600k w/ 8gb of pointy looking ram and a GTX 295. The most demanding game I play is Borderlands.

I use my ~$500 system for everything I need to do with the piece of mind of knowing that I'm not sitting on $2000 of stuff that I won't be able to get $500 for in a year.

Penis compensation. Lots of it.

Ok, more serious...video editing, transcoding ripped video, gaming, Internet, taxes, money management, documents, and running VM Ware OSes.

I am my system, ceased being corporeal a few years ago after I eliminated my original flesh that wrote my incarnation and placed my consciousness online.

Two of my systems have VMware ESXi installed and there are a variety of Windows 2008 R2 and Linux VMs running on there. One of my VMs is folding with 2 vCPUs. This all runs on my Linux file serving over iSCSI.

My office PC is used for gaming, surfing, etc.

Playing games that are over 10 years old... Starcraft I, MoOII, XvT...

Yeah, my i7 laptop is a bit overkill for that (got it for Starcraft II which I hate), hoping diablo III is at least decent.

Video encoding and gaming. I had planned to use it for video editing but never got around to setting that up.
