What do you use for Word Processing in OSX?

As much as I try to like it, NeoOffice just never seems to work as smoothly as I like it to, its still a bit clunky IMO. Pages with iWork is definitely better, but it seems to be missing some features that I used to use in Office XP.

Just curious what else is out there and what you guys use. Pages works fine for most things, but I can't help but feel there is something else out there that is not only better, but cheaper as well.

I mostly use Pages when doing stuff for myself, or print out, or will be sending as a PDF. Since it has much better layout tools than Word, I find that I can do more with it. I use Word when I have to guarantee compatibility with others, but that need has gone down since leaving school. I do not use NeoOffice. I also use TextEdit in plaintext mode for random notes and emacs for coding.

Unless I'm collaborating with other students on a group project I use Pages. If I need to work with others and guarantee what shows up on my screen is what will show up on theirs I use Microsoft Word.

i stick to office 2008. i grew up on it, and depend on it, and cheaper options don't come close, sadly.

I really don't do much writing at all, so I can't really say. On the off chance that I would have to write something with formatting instead of using TextEdit, I would probably use Pages.

I'm using OpenOffice 3.0 for Mac OS. Works pretty good for me, especially since it's free and it's mostly compatible with Word.

I like NeoOffice. Honestly I have never really used any version of Word newer than 2003, and NeoOffice is, IMO, better than Word 2003, so it's more than sufficient for the fairly small amount of word processing I do on my Mac.

pages is nice, but mostly anything I did needed the best of word support. office 2008 is clunky. office 2007 for windows would have fit better IMO... the UI anyway. Still slow and clunky. neooffice crashes for me.

i end up using office 2008 though, out of need for compatibility, and well, it's available to me from work. waiting to see how OO3 pans out.

Another option is Office 2003 via Crossover. If you already own a copy of Office 2003 (Windows), then you can run it via Crossover for only $40. Not too bad, cheaper than VMWare and faster to boot.

i bootcamp it over to xp pro sp3 and use office 2007, or just suck it up and use textedit really quickly and just paste it into word later.

Word 2008. Got it with my free Leopard upgrade from my school so I'm not complaining. :p

I use Office 2008 as I was able to get it cheap via academic discount (otherwise I wouldn't have bothered). I have iWork/Pages as I ponied up for the full version back when I got my iBook. It worked great for most things, but as I have multiple (non-mac) computers, it wasn't as practical having to export to word format everytime. Hence, I didn't reinstall it when I reformatted it last year. For basic stuff, I use VI.

Office 2008. It does everything I need it to, and the UI isn't bad. I love Pages for layout, but I don't see any advantage to using it as a WP.
