You guys are a bunch of Debbie downers. 2020 will be the biggest blowout since Reagan. Turnout will be the highest ever with the dem candidate winning 5 million more votes.

And still lose the EC :p

No. In 2016 Hillary lost EC votes by less than 80k votes across three states. A record turnout simply makes that scenario unlikely to happen again.

I will say this though; if you guys are feeling defeated now then the trump machine is doing its job and you are playing nicely into his hands.

Lol! If I was in an echo chamber then all I’d be hearing is doom and gloom.

Perhaps it’s you who is in the echo. chamber.

I am ... this forum.

Then get the fuck out if you think it’s so bad. No one is stopping you from leaving, no one is stopping you from not reading posts.

Or continue your useless complaining while providing nothing of substance in your posts, no one is going to stop you because if this place was an echo chamber you would have been banned a while ago. Oops

I think voter turnout will be high. I don't think the primary is any indication of what is going to happen once the general election gets here. I think a lot of democrats right now are so torn on what the right type of candidate is to beat Trump that its hurting the energy of the party right now. However, once we've settled on a candidate, I think Dems will unite behind him or her. I don't think it really matters who the candidate is. Trump won by razor thin margins the first time around, and I think his chances are even worse this time.

Exactly. There isn’t any one candidate that stands out right now because they are all great options and all are infinitely better than trump. A majority of people simply don’t care who the nominee is, they just want to vote for the winner ANY winner.

The best thing Dems can do right now is to hurry up and narrow the field.

I don’t know a single Trump supporter in real life. Probably because I don’t associate with morons.

He’ll probably win, America deserves him and hasn’t learned its lesson yet. Hopefully he rips the country apart. I’m tired of subsidizing red states.

I know quite a few. Most of them try to dodge how bad Trump is making the excuse that Hillary would have been even worse. Having said that, I think most of them will still vote for Trump because most of the ones I know have only ever voted republican in their lives. However, I think (hope) the third party vote this time around is going to be very low, booting Trump out this time around.

Incorporated Riverside city here in So-Cal is demographically blue. The outlying areas of the county are red. You find those types coming into the city to shop, get fast food or a beer. During the Tea Party era around 2010, they were more outspoken. You could engage in a mild, detached intellectual conversation about current events, and some little thing would set them off in a self-righteous politically-charged debate.

These days, they're timid. When I go out, I often behave like a late-night comic -- making a "presence". If I crack a joke about Trump, it's only the occasional bearded and tattooed biker who appears to fume, and everyone else is all giggles. Of course, if they "know" anything, they should know that Calfornia went for Clinton 62% to 38%, and the numbers of Trump opposition have increased.

The other day, I was at a convenience store to grab a frosty soft drink, stepped outside with a smoke and asked another customer standing there for a light. Maybe I made some remark about climate change and the weather -- I can't say. But he started in on this rant that "We don't have any freedom in California," complaining about regulations that prohibit swimming in the lakes and reservoirs in our more populous areas. I says to myself "What?!" I continued the conversation with detached and vague thoughts about the "nature of freedom". And I gauged that the guy was a Trumper who was sounding me out with his "freedom" concerns. So they are much more reticent and reserved about revealing themselves.

So the situation and my desire coincide: they should all go crawl under a rock.

But I have the same sentiments as you. They get more federal dollars per tax dollar collected, and their ideas of the public good are batshit crazy. Sort of like gangs of adolescent chimpanzees, whining that the bananas aren't ripe enough.

or, one could just reduce military spending and all the other GOp boondoggles that do nothing beyond making everyone poorer, and you wouldn't be on the hook for anything.

The money is already there. It always has been. I don't understand this conservative belief that new money has to be created to spend it on--vastly cheaper things--than what we already spend it on.
I'm all about cutting the military. 50% would be a good start, and shut down every overseas base while we're at it.

I think the American people are far too aware of the blatant corruption of the Republican party for Trump to have a fair chance. Of course, I also don't even remotely believe the Republicans intend to let the election be fair. At this point I kinda expect Trump to declare himself king and McConnell, Graham, Gaetz, Nunes, Jordan and others to back that.
Says the party of we'll change the rules for candidates when ever and where ever. Bloomberg's billions approves.

60% of the voting population in the US is dumb. Trump will win. At least that is what I am expecting so I won't be disapointed when it does happen.

Shutting down all overseas bases isn't going to happen because the US is there to protect its own interests whether economically or security-wise. It's a net benefit to the US to have whatever bases they do have overseas. The overall size of the military could definitely be reduced though.

I have a feeling Trump will win. I don't like him or agree with him, but I think the dem candidate will win the popular vote while Trump will win the general election. I don't see it going any other way regardless of who the dem candidate is.

If Bernie is the nominee, Trump handily wins. Trumps best words will defeat him...

That is, unless the DNC knee caps him. Bloomberg might be able to beat him, but the rest of the Democratic field cannot, IMO. The only thing I don't know about Bloomberg is how badly his stop and frisk policy hurt him with minorities.
