Babylon 5. Yeah, the series ended, and you still wanted so much more, but it was a good ending to a wonderful story.

Final chapter of the "Little House" saga. It is now the year 1901, and the citizens of Walnut Grove learn that land swindlers are about to take over the town. Not being able to fight it, Hero Township decides that while the swindlers can have the town, they can't have what is on it. The citizens blow up the town, which leads to an emotional filled finale.

Knots Landing finale was good too!

I never saw the MASH finale.. someday I'll have to check it out. Babylon 5 did an excellent job of winding down, with the last two episodes, "Objects in Motion" and "Objects at Rest". Voyager's ending was pretty good, while I felt ST:TNG's finale was lacking something (like a point, maybe..) The last few episodes of Farscape were pretty darn good, but the actual ending was an outrage.

yea but you can never kill the cig smoking man :D

Oh no, he was dead. Seriously, severely, irrevocably dead. That's why it was such a good death. You watched the rocket fly at him. You saw from its point of view. You watched it hit his skull, then you watched the fire burn off his hair, then his skin, then start to melt the bone. Then you saw the entire building explode. He was dead. D-E-A-D.

Yeah, it kicked ass.

Just some other stuff to address:

MASH had a great finale, though I consider it more of a movie than a finale. It was touching and yet funny, though it seemed to take a strongly serious turn, more so than any of the other episodes had before it.

Newhart was pure genius. (Not the Val Kilmer movie :p) It was probably the most amusing thing I'd ever seen.

Babylon 5 was a good ending except for the fact that it wasn't really an ending. It was more of a lead-up to Crusade. (Which unfortunately was canned because it didn't attract enough of the 19-25 crowd, i.e. it had plot rather than senseless sex and violence)

The worst series finale has to be Dinosaurs. It took this light sitcom and ended it with the onset of a new Ice Age and the extinction of all life on the planet. Great huh?

I'm not sure about the best series finale, but I will say that the series "Sliders" deserves an award for going from a very enjoyable and creative TV show to an absolute pile of warm, steaming crap.

I don't think anyone was still watching by the time they had the series finale.

Oh, I liked the series finale for Quantum Leap. Not perfect, but it was nice. Also liked the series finale to MST3K.
