Yeah, it's not the best TV on the market, and it may not even be the best price, but is it reasonable? Most importantly for me, it's on Sonystyle.com.

I'm planning on getting a Playstation 3, and I want an HDTV to go along with it. Currently, I'm still in school but will be making money soon so I hope to take advantage of Sony's no interest deal on their website, because when I have a job I'll have the money but not the time to enjoy any of this stuff. It's nice how life works. =/

Anyway, does this seem reasonable to you for what's being offered?

I actually bought the 32" Bravia M series from Sony for 699 at a regional electronics store. I returned the TV because the base broke off during shipping and the store was not able to replace it as they were out of stock. I decided to get a refund. For the time I had it, I was able to plug it in and pick up over the air HD channels. They were way better than my 19 in CRT TV. This particular TV has a low contrast ratio compared to other TVs in the 32 in 720p range. However, it didn't bother me at all. The Bravia M series is the older series compared to the newer S series. The S series has a better processing chip and the picture is more crisp with a better contrast ratio. If I were to choose an entry level TV today, I would choose the Toshiba REGZA 32HL67U. Price/performance is great right now and is on sale at Amazon for 699. It's better than the Bravia M series in my opinion. I'm not sure about what financing options they have but it's a 100 less than the Bravia M series.

Edit: Others have also pointed out on this board that the price of the 720p TVs will drop in the future so if you have time, waiting would be the better option.

That Toshiba TV does look better since it has the 14-bit processor compared to the 8-bit. But I have not been able to find comparable financing deals for it online (i.e. 3 months at Best Buy, and that requires taking on yet another credit card). I'm not expecting paychecks until August, and I have only a few hundred dollars to spend on this TV and a Playstation 3 with accessories/games until then.

If you are on a severe budget for the time being, why not skip the whole financing thing and pick up a used Sony 34" or 36" HD-capable crt from Craigslist for around $300-400 or so. You'll likely get a set with a better picture than any budget 32" LCD and save alot of money in the process. And you won't have to take out a line of credit for a TV.

If you go the CL-route you should be able to find one a lot cheaper then $300-$400 .... more like $100-$175 & you haul it away.

Also you should try & find one of the last of the Toshiba 32HL67's with built-in DVD player that were on clearance for $529 a couple weeks ago ... if you can get one at that price it would be well worth opening a new cc to do it.
