Do you think the volcano 7 is enough to get a agoia 1600+ to run at 10.5*166 ?

btw, how loud is the volcano 7 ?

Volcano 7 sux.........all TT products suck, get an alpha/SK6 or with a Zalman/Panaflow combo. KT3 board is rock solid board, cant go wrong there.

How much is that?
I am not planning to spend a whole lot on the hsf because I will upgrade the cpu (alonge with a new hsf) in a year.

Even if I dont like the way human2k put that I agree 100%.... The Alpha products are great, and the
AX-7 from Thermalright is a nice piece if the board has room around the socket..... If not an SK-6 is one really
nice hunk of copper that is compact.... That AX-7 on my 2100+ and I see temps from 36 C to 47 C full load....

The only part in your list that got me to post was that junky HS.....

SK-6- 20.00 to 15.00 US
AX-7- 35.00 to 28.00 US

Looks good...I have a couple of suggestions...

First, consider the Epox 8K5A2+. Great board and o/c's like a mofo. As far as the heatsink goes, for a cheap but excellent HSF that is also quiet, check out this Taisol CGK760092 for $15. I overhauled my AV system with the Epox board, Samsung PC2700, and a 1600+ from Newegg. I've got the 1600+ running 1.75ghz @ 166mhz FSB with default vcore, that Taisol I mentioned, and no case fans except for my Enermax PSU. Thing is incredibly stable. As others have said, if you can afford it, the Alpha 8045 with a 80mm Panaflo L1A will be even better.

BTW, This is what that AV system I mentioned consists off...

1600+ @ 1.75ghz (10.5 x 166)
512mb Generic Samsung PC2700
Retail AIW Radeon 7500
Philips Seismic Edge
Maxtor 80GB D740X
Pioneer Slot Load DVD
Antec SX800 case with 431W Enermax
Black Planar 17" LCD

:)

Looks good - although I'd suggest getting an Athlon XP 1800+, as I believe they're the cheapest MHz per dollar right now. Should be more than $20 USD over the 1600+ I think.
