Me and my SO are expcting a boy, one of many possible name we liked is Luca.
What do you think of this name for him? (obviously it works in EU... but the states is the issue here).
Anyway, how about other name suggestions?
and I remmember seeing here once a cool site which had charts for child's name popularity with graph over the years for every inputed name... anyone remmembers the link?

reminds me of that Suzanne Vega song,

"My name is Luka I live on the second floor I live upstairs from you Yes I think you've seen me before ..."

So, in that case it would be a girl's name.

Might be hard in the states but you can always shorten it to Luke or something.

I'm not going to have children so I can't answer the latter question.

good luck picking, don't worry about what people think.

Yes, its Luka Vs. Luca (the first is Hungarian girl name, the later is Italian Boy name..)

I surprisingly like that name. Very modern but not too "out there"
I also like Ethan, Ian, Tyler, Aiden

Mike, Matt, Billy and Sam beat up Ethan, Ian, Tyler and Aiden while the latter four are on their way to brunch on Sunday in their cable knit sweaters and abercrombie trousers.

Anyone with that link to the name site? I tried searching here, and didn't find (then again I suck at advanced search)

Please don't go with a name that he will hate his entire life.

Might as well call him MrCrap, if you are going to call him Luca.

but you have an Italian (sounding) last name (I don't know if you were getting at Maffia as your last name)?

I'm asking because Luca Isenberg doesn't have the same ring as Luca Silverstri

Names

The question of course is whether the name is the cause or the indicator of the problems.
On one hand, outside of the rap industry I have not met one Shaniqwa doing anything more then putting my clothes in a bag or taking my order.
Now is this because of the name itself, or the implications behind the name (low income home, low income section of town).

I dont know, and I wont go into it. What I do know is names are a "good" way for a recruiter to say "Nope, dont want that one".

Give a bit of thought to the name.

You can also read more about distinctive black names here

I dont know your ancestory and wont pretend to either, I'm simply presenting the fact that a name could potentially impact your child beyond being maade fun of in high school.

As such, *I* would go with Luke over Luca. But ultimately, name the kid what you like. :)
