Been wanting to purchase but haven't and now is the time I have to pull the trigger. I've more or less decided on the items just need a few final suggustions on which way to go for a few items - MoBo, CPU Cooler and PSU. Others I've decided on.

MoBo - Which one for Good OC w Opty 144 and stable.
- DFI LANPARTY UT nF4 Ultra-D
- EPoX 9NPA-Ultra

PSU:
- Enermax EG565P-VE FMA(24P)
- Antec TruePowerII - TPII-550
- Fortron AX 500-A

CPU Cooler - and will they fit with a DFI or EPoX Mobo:
- Zalman CNPS 9500 LED
- Thermalright XP-90 w/ SilentCat 90mm fan

Sound Card for use with Headphones only:
- Can I use MoBo's sound output or do I need a Audigy Value ?

CPU - Opteron 144 - Already have an OC's very well
RAM - G.SKILL Extreme 2GB DDR500 - F1-4000USU2-2GBHZ
Video - ATI X1800XT
Monitor - Dell 2405FP - 24" LCD @ 1920 x 1200
HD - Western Digital Raptor 150 GB ,10K RPM, 16 MB cache SATA - WD1500ADFD
Case - Antec SUPER LANBOY Silver ATX mini tower
DVD - NEX ND-3550A Silver
Mouse - Logitech MX518
Keyboard - already have

Thanks

Looks good, dang that raptor is expensive though. I have the DFI and it's great, but the EpoX is great as well. Nothing wrong with the onboard sound for your headphones. I am just using the stock AMD heatsink with my 4200+, not sure if the opteron comes with the heatpiped version like the 4200+ though, but it's a good heatsink. For the PSU I have always had good luck with Enermax, haven't had any problems with my Antec's or my Fortron either, so I guess it's just a matter of preferance.

Stevty2889 - Wasn't sure if the DFI or EPoX mobo had a headphone jack ... couldn't see anything in the docs ... but line outs and speaker outs. Do I use one of those to hook the headphone up to ?

If you have that much money to spend on a Raptor, definitely get the Seasonic S12-500. It's a very efficient and quiet PSU, so it'll save money on your electricity bill. Also, I recommend getting a better case. That Lanboy looks kinda small, which will restrict airflow. With an X1800XT, overclocked Opteron, and 150GB Raptor, you're going to have a lot of heat. I recommend the Cooler Master Praetorian.

Mobo: I'd get the DFI, just because I've had very good experiences with it. Tons of OCing options, and very stable as far as I can tell. Plus it looks pretty sweet if you've got some UV lights. 😉

PSU: Out of those I'd pick up the Fortron. Very efficient, quiet, sleeved cables. But the Seasonic stevty mentioned would be better then all of them.

Cooler: I have the XP-90 with a Panaflo fan and it's been extremely nice so far. Keeps my CPU at a nice 32C idle with a 400MHz OC.

The audio is a tricky one. The Karajan module on the DFI is impossible to reach with the front audio cables in the Super Lanboy unless you stretch it directly across the mobo (I used to own it; I know), so if you get that case and that mobo you might want to pick up a sound card. However, if you get a different case, such as the very nice Centurion 5, it reaches pretty easily if you run it under the mobo.

All -- Thanks for the replies ...

For PSU --Which is better there is only a 10 dollar diff in price @ NewEgg
OCZ PowerStream OCZ520ADJSLI 520W
or
SeaSonic S12-500 500W

The case ... does it REALLY SUCK that bad ? Also can I get longer cables that would allow it to work with the built in Karjan sound module ?
The HD -- I know it is MUCHO expensive ... but the machine is ONLY going to be using for gaming purposes ... and thus the fast and relatively small HD.

For music, pictures and normal productivity stuff I use my PowerMac G5 Dual.

I am also thinking DFI mobo ... since I've got some OC experience and have already owned the EPoX mobo (I liked it a lot) but figure if the DFI OC's a little better I can get more out of my stuff.

In regards to the cooler ... I am thinking the Thermalright XP-90 w/ SilentCat 90mm fan still ... the Silentcat fan is really good and quiet.

Do you really want to waste so much money to trim off load times a bit? The money you spend on it would be much more justifiable on something else, like the case. Get a bigger one. Smaller cases aren't so easy to work with, and they don't have that much room for airflow. Get the Seasonic S-12. It's very powerful, quiet, and efficient.

For about $10 more than that, you could get the Sparkle 550W with 36A on the +12V. Why would there be issues with the Seasonic though? Got any stress tests to back it up?
